Client: Callaway
Event: Callaway PR Event at The Open 2024
Activation: Chipping Activation
Location: Dundonald Links, Scotland
The Brief:
We were approached by Callaway who were looking to create a unique golf activation as part of their PR & brand promotion ahead of The Open. Callaway tour players would be battling it out head-to-head in a relay style format, with the competitive edge to be filmed for content purposes by the Callaway marketing & social media teams. The Callaway team also wanted to use the event to showcase their new postage stamp branding to mark the 152nd Open at Royal Troon.
The Process:
Marking one of the majors in golf, our design & production teams were keen to make a statement with an exciting and bespoke club in hand golf activation. With 2 x teams of Callaway tour players competing against each other, we needed to ensure the activation allowed for multiple players to take part whilst representing the Callaway brand seamlessly.
The Result:
Callaway Chipping Challenge: Designed & built in house at PVE HQ, we built a platform that positioned two small greens representing the 8th at Royal Troon, renowned as the postage stamp hole with its unique shape of the green.
Debuting the Callaway postage stamp Open branding and the new Opus wedge range, Callaway tour players participated in a relay taking on chip shots from 10 – 25 yards. Once a player had managed to get the ball onto their green, the next player would then come in and do the same until all players in the team has completed the challenge.
The team relished the opportunity to deliver something a little different from what we usually do, especially for such an established brand in golf, for one of the greatest sporting events in the history! The activation emphasised that our services & capabilities allow us to deliver to any design requirements, alongside capturing and showcasing brands in a memorable capacity.
